This course illuminates development perspectives, issues, policy frameworks, paradigms, and global developments that have implications for educational policies and reforms. It includes concepts and definitions of education, development, and sustainable development. Moreover, it discusses the core perspectives of orthodox and alternative views of development, their purposes, and their processes. The course also covers various development frameworks and their links to education:Education for All (EFA), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Structural Adjustment Policies (SAP), Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRS), Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and International Aid Modalities, Lifelong Learning (LLL) framework. Moreover, it deals with education and its economic, political, social, technological, and cultural developments. Finally, the course discusses the policies and strategies to realize education for developing the nation and the world.
