Application of the theory of chemical kinetics, including collision, transition state, and surface reactivity approaches. Effects of heat on reaction rate, selectivity/yield, multiple steady-states and stability. Kinetics of catalytic and non-catalytic heterogeneous reactions. Analysis of coupled transport processes and chemical reaction. Analysis and design of chemical reactor operations with multiple reactions. Scale-up of multiphase chemical reactors (gas-solid, gas-liquid, and gas-liquid-solid). Reactor and kinetic modelling of heterogeneous transport catalytic reactions. Optimization problems in reactor design and operation. Introduction to separator reactors (Temperature and pressure swing reaction-separation process, membrane and micro-reactors).
