This course will cover the fundamental aspects of all important aspects of discrete-event simulation with emphasis on computing and telecommunications applications. Topics to be covered in this course include basics of discrete-event system simulation, mathematical and statistical models, simulation design, experiment design, and modeling of simulation data. We will also look at examples of discrete-event simulation models used to analyze the performance of telecommunication and computer networks. Some of the course material will be drawn from research papers and industry white papers.

The course should provide the students with a good understanding of the discrete-event simulation concepts and help them to utilize the concepts to analyze the performance of various computing or telecommunication systems.
