This module is designed to help candidates acquire supervised field experience involving systematic design, development, implementation and evaluation of science lessons in collaboration with regular teachers in selected schools or CTEs. The main focus is providing students with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained during the master’s modules in actual instructional settings. The candidates are required to engage intensively in discussions with peers and professors on various science classroom and outdoor activities including co-analyzing instructional design problems with diverse teams, creating real classroom, outdoor, and laboratory science learning scenarios based on specific instructional design models and science teaching strategies, implementing their lessons in actual classroom settings in a way that it enhances students’ concept acquisition, inquisitive disposition, and appreciation of nature/material environment, giving and receiving constructive feedback to and from students, school teachers, teacher educators and professors, and reflecting on the whole design, implementation and evaluation phases of instruction. Moreover candidates are required to produce low cost hands-on lab equipment. To do so, candidates will be given an opportunity to work at BDU’s STEM center.

The work includes designing a science education/or training-related systematic intervention based on relevant science learning problem in primary and lower secondary school students and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention in the context of a schools or CTEs. This thesis is mainly dedicated to planning and implementing a research and reporting in a scientific way in which you are supposed to show understanding and application of relevant research methods, instructional theories and science teaching models. The thesis can also be linked to professional development and / or an evaluation project in the education system among science teachers and educators. The thesis project will be individually supervised by two staff members of BDU and other similar institutions.
