The content of this course will very much depend on the individual student’s topic for the master dissertation. The topics can come from any part of mathematics or mathematics education. It can involve a further development of topics from the psychology of mathematics, the philosophy of mathematics, or other mathematical education topics, but it can also focus purely on mathematical topics, which are not treated in the previous courses, or represent a further development of topics from these courses. There will be no scheduled teaching of the various topics, but the candidates will participate in a seminar where they present dedicated topics. The topics will be left to self-study and individual tutoring.Credit Point: 60 CP

The Master thesis is a scientific work relevant to the field of mathematics education. The work includes designing a mathematics education/or training-related systematic intervention based on relevant mathematics learning problem in primary and lower secondary school candidates and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention in the context of schools or CTE. This thesis is mainly dedicated to planning and implementing a research and reporting in a scientific way in which you are supposed to show understanding and application of relevant research methods, instructional theories and mathematics teaching models. The thesis can also be linked to professional development and / or an evaluation project in the education system among mathematics teachers and educators. The thesis project will be individually supervised by two staff members of BDU and other similar institutions.
